You want to become a breeder?
What we offerThe first thought of breeding can be overwhelming – especially if you’re new to it.
Where do you start? What are the rules? How do I plan a litter? How do I get things right from the start?
Many clubs leave new breeders alone with these questions.
The desire to get it right from the start is great, but often the right support is lacking.
Perhaps you are already a breeder but don’t feel you are in good hands with your current club.
Do you want to be reputable, improve your knowledge and benefit from a community that shares your commitment?
This is exactly where we come in. At EWA, we support you right from the start:
With lots of learning opportunities and a strong community that shares your goal and gives you the best possible support in your endeavour – to breed healthy, happy dogs.
Discover how we can support you on your journey as a breeder and become part of EWA!
Step 1
Membership and basic knowledge
The first step to becoming a breeder under EWA is a membership plus. You can easily apply for this via our membership application form. As soon as your membership is confirmed, you will receive access to our seminars. A must for all breeders is our ‘Breeding Basics’ seminar, which provides you with a wide range of information about heat, mating and raising puppies. Once you have watched the seminar, there is a short quiz in which you can check your understanding again and, if necessary, deepen the content or ask questions.
Step 2
Apply for Breeding Approval
Your dogs are the most important part of your breeding programme. Accordingly, the registration and breeding approval of the intended breeding dogs should not be missing. When you apply for a breeding approval, you can upload all completed examinations directly and we will add them to the profile for you. In order for your dog to be confirmed as a breeding dog, it must fulfil all the requirements for its breed or breed mix as stipulated in the ethical guidelines. If you already have a possible mating in mind, make sure that both dogs are registered with all tests.
No dogs registered yet?
Step 3
Register your kennel
Of course, your kennel is part of your breeding programme! Think of a kennel name that is unique in the wolfdog scene. There are no limits to your imagination here. Together with a logo and a short description of who is behind your kennel name, what you breed and what makes your kennel so special, you can register your kennel. If you need help creating a logo, please get in touch with us and we can help direct you to the right professionals.
Alternatively, if you have decided in favour of a mentor litter, please get in touch with the board!
Step 4
Planning your litter
Your kennel is registered, the dogs are fully tested and registered as breeding dogs, and you have refreshed your knowledge with the basic seminar? Great! Now it’s getting serious. Feel free to use the tools we provide, such as the test mating and the extended pedigree in the database, to put your ideas for a possible mating through their paces. You can also enquire about the Embark eCOI.
